We will be showcasing our new collection at Lesotho fashion week with step up dance crew as our models.
A intimate arts show case ran by Uncommen people collective at Daily Dosage/Community Gallery in Durban South Africa. We will be selling PatternNation threads and prints, showing original projects and a Fashion Show of our newest collection.
The Fashion Show is a Collaboration between Pop Tee, DUT dance graduates and PatternNation. We should showcase at 7pm and there is also a line up of other musicians, and visual artists involved.
This event is one of many events to come that are geared towards the promotion of strong and new artists (especially FEMALE) doing fresh new sounds. It is also geared to wards creating new and exciting content for Durbanites to go out and enjoy. It also aims to help grow the Durban art scene that we believe is so phenomenal, and just needs to be worked at for the rest of the world to see, maybe this way we can stop losing great artists to JHB and CPT.....

Block Party Vol. 3
March 21, 7:30pm - 10pm
Free | Everyone welcome
The Reach, in partnership with Abbotsford Community Services, presents Block Party Vol. 3: Intersections on the Block. A block party is usually planned by the residents of a single block or neighborhood. The Reach has changed it up and we're inviting the whole city!
March 21 is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, and what better way to eliminate hate than to throw a party? The focus for this event is holding space to acknowledge intersectionality* within our community.
*Intersectionality is a concept often used in critical theories to describe the ways in which oppressive institutions (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, xenophobia, classism, etc) are interconnected and cannot be examined separately from one another.
We have a full-loaded night of highlight performances showcasing a variety of talents planned. Mark your calendars, because you don’t want to miss this event!

Museum of Vancouver invites Vancouverites to explore and celebrate innovation in action. 25 designers stationed throughout the museum’s galleries, discuss their work during Why I Design.
Why I Design spotlights the process of invention. This year’s Why I Design pays particular attention to Social Impact through design strategies of upcycling and repurposed materials. Participating designers will engage you with stories behind the development of everyday technologies and cool things you’ve never seen before. You can ask the designers—ranging from those emerging their careers to innovative leaders in international corporations—what motivates them, how they do what they do, and why Vancouver inspires them to keep doing it.
This isn’t an art display or trade show. Why I Design provides an alternative to standard presentations by breaking down walls between disciplines and between designers and the public. It’s an opportunity to interact with the designers of the products and environments that shape your life. The participating designers represent enormously diverse creativity. Come see their latest ideas and developments!

F-O-R-M’s Commissioning Fund is an exciting program offered by the festival for emerging artists. This year, we are delighted to have commissioned 6 new movement films from artists across Canada between the ages of 19-31. Each artist received up to $2000, equipment credit and access to the facility at Cineworks in Vancouver and Charles St. Video in Toronto. These resources all went towards the creation of brand new movement films to be screened and premiered on Saturday, September 15th.
This years artists are working towards some very exciting movement ideas and concepts that involve seeing movement through music, fashion and mirrors and speak to issues of race, gender, identity, age and decolonization.
Our commissioned artists include: Francesca Chudnoff (Toronto), Jennifer Su (Toronto), Eric Cheung and Alimzhan Sabir (Calgary), Roxanne Nesbitt (Vancouver), Cydney Eva Paddon of PatternNation (Vancouver/Durban), Elizabeth Armitage and Aidan Chin (Vancouver).
We are thrilled to present these six new films to you. Thank you and congratulations to everyone for making these films a reality, and for being a part of our third F-O-R-M Commissioning Fund Program!
After an inspiring weekend of movement films, we hope you can join us at Left of Main to converse, celebrate and dance with F-O-R-M's artists, producers, audiences and volunteers of the festival!
PatternNation will be curating this event in full colour and pattern effect. Bringing some of the elements from their F-O-R-M commissioned film TRIANGULATE alive. PatternNation interactive BLOBS created by Cydney Eva will fill the space for us all to play in, pattern projections by Bangalore based visual artist Brianna Klassen will be shown and South African rapper CostaBesta will be performing his track from the film and more. ABOUT
We are people from all around the world who make the fashion industry work.
We are the people who wear clothes.
And we are the people who make them.
We are you.
We are the 'pro-fashion protesters' because we love gashion and want to see it become a force for good. We celebrate fashion as a positive influence while also scrutinising industry practices and raising awareness of the fashion industry's most pressing issues.
Be Curious. Find Out. Do Something.

Pattern Nation is a collaborative and inclusive platform aimed at connecting artists who embrace bold colour and pattern globally. PatternNation was founded by Vancouver Canada based artist and fashion designer Cydney Eva. PatternNation collaborations engage with many indigenous and radical thinking artists globally. As an act of decolonization through art PatternNation shoots, events, video's and clothing aim to create conversation around identity politics. Part of the platforms mandate is to create more space for inter-generational women and people of colour in fashion and to facilitate cross cultural sharing through art. The aim of PatternNation is to work directly with artists from various backgrounds and create content that subverts the usual consumption of Caucasian minimalist work in the art and fashion worlds.

Assemblage is excited to currently have Cydney Eva of PatternNation on residency. Join us on Friday 7 April from 6pm for a collaborative art opening of immersive painting, interactive sculpture and experimental performances.
Inspired by the 1966 sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage, in which the voyagers travel inside of the human body. This exploration in space, pattern and self expression aims to create another world of creativity that consumes the room. Self reflection, connection, surrealism, fun, play and interaction are all elements that have brought together this group of artists from Joburg, Durban, and Vancouver. Assemblage artist in resident Cydney Eva founder of PatternNation aims to create a truly collabor...ative performative night that breaks away from conventional art functions and allows us to laugh, dance, observe, play and groove together. This voyage will consist of 3 experimental hip hop and RnB performances happening in different parts of the gallery space. DJ owabowa will hold down the night with a mixture of base music, feminist/queer rap, house and hip hop. There will also be a small pop up shop of PatternNation painted and silkscreened clothing, PatternNation rope jewelry and the collaborative zines made in the workshop with alphabet zoo.

This event takes place on the ancestral, traditional, and unceded homelands of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. Unceded means that this land was never surrendered, relinquished or handed over in any way. As we organize, we also remember the historical and ongoing colonial genocide against Indigenous peoples that make it possible for us to be here as settlers.
